RCMP’s Wishtree campaign raises $12,000
The RCMP’s annual Wishtree campaign, held last December, raised an estimated $12,000 in 2010 to go towards the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.
Six detachments, including those in Harbour Grace and Bay Roberts, raised funds to help red bulbs on the Wishtree turn white. The event started in Harbour Grace in 1991 and was launched provincially in 2000. It has raised $227,840 since its inception.
The Children’s Wish Foundation grants wishes to children ages three-to-17 that face life-threatening illness. Since 1984, the foundation has granted wishes to 16,000 children, and this year it expects to grant 1,000 new ones.
