John­son un­op­posed for nom­i­na­tion

Trin­ity-Bay de Verde MHA Char­lene John­son will be the Pro­gres­sive Con­ser­va­tive can­di­ate in the Oct. 11 pro­vin­cial gen­eral elec­tion.

John­son, who is the min­is­ter of Child, Youth and Fam­ily Ser­vices, was ac­claimed as the can­di­date at the close of nom­i­na­tions on Fri­day, March 25.

John­son was first elected in 2003, be­com­ing the youngest-ever fe­male Mem­ber of the House of Assem­bly, and will be seek­ing her third term in pro­vin­cial pol­i­tics. She recorded easy vic­to­ries in both the 2003 and 2007 elec­tions.

John­son served as min­is­ter of En­vi­ron­ment and Con­ser­va­tion from Oc­to­ber 2007 un­til be­ing shuf­fled to Child, Youth and Fam­ily Ser­vices in mid-Jan­uary.
