Johnson unopposed for nomination
Trinity-Bay de Verde MHA Charlene Johnson will be the Progressive Conservative candiate in the Oct. 11 provincial general election.
Johnson, who is the minister of Child, Youth and Family Services, was acclaimed as the candidate at the close of nominations on Friday, March 25.
Johnson was first elected in 2003, becoming the youngest-ever female Member of the House of Assembly, and will be seeking her third term in provincial politics. She recorded easy victories in both the 2003 and 2007 elections.
Johnson served as minister of Environment and Conservation from October 2007 until being shuffled to Child, Youth and Family Services in mid-January.
