Slam dunk success for Tricon students
Students in grades 4, 5 and 6 from Tricon Elementary in Bay de Verde have been having great fun playing basketball over the past couple of weekends, and made quite an impression at the annual Slam Dunk Tournament is hosted by Bishop Abraham Elementary in St. John’s.
The boys played March 11-12, and the girls played on March 18-19.
Tricon had so many boys in grades 4, 5 and 6 wanting to play basketball this year that they had to send two boys’ teams to the annual tournament. Both teams played well and had to face each other in the A division final. Team A won the gold medal and Team B settled for silver.
The girl’s team played extremely well and went undefeated for the entire tournament. They won the 4A championship game against St. Mary’s Elementary of St. John’s to capture the gold medal.
