BUT­TON, Alma — Mrs. Alma But­ton of Vic­to­ria, who passed away peace­fully at the Car­bon­ear Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal with her lov­ing fam­ily by her side on Fri­day, April 1, 2011. Mrs. But­ton was 82 years old. She leaves to mourn her lov­ing fam­ily: Chil­dren: Vi­vian ( Ju­nior) Pomeroy, Jean (Frank) Clarke, Robert (Corinne) But­ton, Roberta (Mar­wood) Butt, Blair ( Joyce) But­ton, Kim­berly (Geoff) Smith, Tracy (Tony) Men­chions; Grand­chil­dren: War­ren (Brenda), Trevor, Robert Jr., Nel­son, Lind­say (Eric), Krista, Kelsey, Joshua, Kati­lyn and Glenn; Great Grand­chil­dren: Lu­cas, Is­abel and Rachel; Sis­ters-in-law: Emma El­liott, Rita El­liott, Effie But­ton & Dorothy Stage; Brother-in-law: Al­ford But­ton; Dear Friend: Mariam Pen­ney and a num­ber of other rel­a­tives and friends. Pre­de­ceased By: Hus­band: Stan­ley But­ton; Daugh­ter: Mary; Par­ents: Charles & Mel­leta El­liott; Brothers: Ge­orge, Harvey and Gor­don; Sis­ter: Florence Moss. The Fu­neral ser­vices took place at Vic­to­ria United Church and Ceme­tery, Vic­to­ria, on Sun­day, April 3, 2011 at 2 P.M. The fam­ily re­ceived rel­a­tives and friends at Slade’s Fu­neral Home, Pow­ell Drive, Car­bon­ear be­tween the hours of Satur­day: 10:30 a.m.-12 noon, 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Sun­day: 10 a.m.-12 noon. RYAN, Lil­lian J. (nee Shana­han) — Jan­uary 6, 1917 - April 4, 2011. Passed peace­fully away at the Car­bon­ear Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal on Mon­day, April 4, 2011, Lil­lian J. Ryan of River­head, Har­bour Grace, age 94 years. Pre­de­ceased by: hus­band, Bernard; in­fant daugh­ter, Ellen; brothers: Thomas and Ni­cholas; sis­ters: Nel­lie, Mona, Mary, An­gela and Mar­cella. Left to mourn, four daugh­ters: An­gela (Lawrence) Mercer, St. John’s, Phyl­lis ( John) Pretty, Chapel Arm, Brenda (Michael) Par­menter, St. John’s and He­len (Alex) Lind­say, Del­haven, NS; three sons: Shan­non (Mar­garet), St. John’s, Bernard (Christine), St. John’s and Wil­liam (Renee), River­head, Har­bour Grace; eight grand­chil­dren: Larry (Elaine), John (Ber­na­dine), Perry (Paula), Tracey (Glenn), Suzanne (Al­lan), Bernard, Daniel and Jef­frey; nine great-grand­chil­dren: Rox­anne, Amy, Jenna, Ri­ley, Ryan, Laura, Maria, Ethan and Bella; also a large num­ber of nieces, neph­ews and other rel­a­tives and friends. Rested at Noel’s Fu­neral Home, Har­bour Grace. Fr. F.J. Ayl­ward con­ducted the fu­neral Mass on Wed­nes­day, April 6 at St. Joseph’s Ro­man Catholic Church, River­head, Har­bour Grace. In­ter­ment took place in the Ro­man Catholic Ceme­tery, Har­bour Grace.
