Tibet needs our help
I write about an issue in China. Though it is far away it is an issue that should not be ignored any longer, even if the Chinese government is trying to hide it from the world. This issue that I referring to is the murder of one million people and a soonto-be extinct peaceful way of life.
Tibet was once an independent, peaceful nation in the Himalayas. It was governed by the political and spiritual leader, the Dali Lama. The Chinese government went to overthrow the now Canadian leader of Tibet, and succeeded because Tibet has no real army. Tibet forbids violence.
The Dali Lama had no choice other than to flee to India in 1959 with over 100,000 other Tibetan refugees. Those who fought in Tibet and China then, and still fight the Chinese government today, are imprisoned or murdered and there is no freedom of speech, religion and there is no outside media which is why this is all so secret. However, reporters and people with evidence have gotten out of China and published their findings on the Internet or other media outside of China.
I don’t need to tell you that this is very wrong and something truly needs to be done. but it needs to be done peacefully because the Dali Lama’s religion is Buddhism and this religion does not condone violence in their way of life. That’s something I believe that makes sense for all of us to do.
China itself is not our enemy, but that doesn’t mean we have to agree with what they are doing. We all need to take a stand and peacefully protest what China is doing to these innocent people because already we have ignored over one million unjust murders, countless unjust arrests, and the destruction of over 6,000 monasteries.
Please help because without us Tibet will have little hope of justice. To help by donating or educating yourself further, visit: http://tibet.ca/
