Soc­cer Satur­day in Har­bour Grace


The Con­cep­tion Bay North soc­cer as­so­ci­a­tion re­cently held a very suc­cess­ful “ Soc­cer Satur­day” in Har­bour Grace. It was the con­slu­sion to an­other sea­son of Tim Hor­tons Tim­bits in­door mi­nor soc­cer at Har­bour Grace Pri­mary School. Cham­pi­ons were crowned in four di­vi­sions dur­ing the April 9 event.

Those in the ages 9-10 divi­sion were: Front (l-r) – Bran­don Linthorne, Maggie Janes, Ab­dul­lah Ra­heem, Ben­jamin Burke, Joshua Mercer, Jonathan Narine, Faith Clarke, Kait­lan Graper and Pa­trick Don­nelly; back – Colin Ros­siter, Lu­cas Baker, Bradley Hearn, Ryan Shep­pard, Kait­lyn How­ell, Ju­lia Young, Makaila Mur­ray, Jessica Mur­phy, Lau­ren Shep­herd and Jessica Young. Eng­land de­feated France 8-5 in the cham­pi­onship game. Scor­ing for Eng­land were: Bradley Hearn (4), Lu­cas Baker (3) and Lau­ren Shep­pard; for France, it was Joshua Mercer, Ab­dul­lah Ra­heem, Bran­don Linthorne, Faith Clarke and one team goal.

Those in the ages 4-6 divi­sion in­cluded: Front (l-r) – Jack Bai­ley, Noah La­hey, Mar­cus O’Leary, Jor­dan King, Leah Baker, Re­becca Lock­yer, Alex Ske­hen, Mack­aila Jensen, Fel­ica Jensen, Ha­ley Dawe, Mya John­son, Drew Deer­ing, Kelsey King, Spencer Mew­man and Lily Wil­liams; back – Lee­land An­der­son (guest ref­eree), Drake Rose, Nolan Swain, Blake Vaters, Bri­anna Mercer, Gavin Janes, Philip Seely, Ja­cob O’Leary, Ri­ley Shep­pard, Clara O’Keefe, Ri­lan Swain and Deb­bie His­cock ( Tim Hor­tons). Brazil de­feated Italy in a shootout to win the divi­sion. Scor­ing for Brazil were the fol­low­ing: Alex Ske­hen (2), Ha­ley Dawe and Mar­cus O’Leary; scor­ing for Italy were: Gavin Janes (four goals).

Par­tic­i­pants in the ages 11-12 divi­sion in­cluded: Front (l-r) – Mitchell Mur­phy, McKen­zie King, Ab­dul­lah Ra­heem, Kyle Lynch, Jeremy Swain and Nigel Green; back – Sarah Pynn (coach), Jor­dan Mercer, Jared Slade, Stephen McDon­ald, Peter King, Cody Vaters and Nick Green (coach).Miss­ing from photo were Tay­lor Janes and Tyler Bur­ton. Spain de­feated Ger­many 4-3 in the fi­nal. Goal scor­ers for Spain were: Cody Vaters (2), Stephen McDon­ald and Tay­lor Janes; for Ger­many, it was: Jeremy Swain, Kyle Lynch and Ab­dul­lah Ra­heen.

Those in the ages 7-8 divi­sion in­clude: Front (l-r) – Trista Em­ber­ley, Alaina King, Alexan­der Har­ris, Matthew Mur­phy, Reid Deer­ing and Reanna Car­pen­ter; back – Zach­ery Wheadon, Oliver Har­ris, Joseph Har­ris, Kaleb Parsons, Carter Ni­chol­son, Paige Em­ber­ley, Rachel Snow, Keelin Ny­man, Devon Mul­laly and Mar­cus Seely. The Celtics de­feated the Shan­nons 2-0 in the cham­pi­onship, with Devon Mul­laly scor­ing both goals.
