Criticism of NDP ‘worrisome’

Dear editor,

I am writing to comment on a letter from Joy French-Coleman in the May 25th edition of The Compass headlined “Concerns about the NDP.”

I disagree with her criticisms and find them worrisome. It seems inconsistent to both uphold religious stands and disapprove of help to the poor and other needy people. People who advocate materialism and the greed and selfishness of market-driven governance ought not to claim righteousness morally.

This and other implied criticisms remind one of the current Tea Party activists in the U.S., and the apparent adoption of similar attitudes here in Canada by the newly-elected Conservative Harperites.
