Safer roads

The RCMP is trying to make our roads safer every year. In the Trinity Conception District the RCMP receive approximately five to 10 complaints of traffic collisions every week.

A number of the collisions are happening at major intersections and intersections to private approaches. Although referred to as “accidents,” most traffic collisions are caused by inattentive driving. We would like to reduce the number of collisions that are occurring in our district.

Here are some helpful hints to avoid a collision.

• Always be aware of the vehicles around you. Where are they and in what position to your vehicle?

• When approaching intersections be aware of oncoming traffic. Just because the approaching vehicle has a signal light on does not mean they will turn.
