Big day for MP Scott Andrews
Liberal MP Scott Andrews (Avalon) has been appointed federal critic in the area of access to information, privacy and ethics. Liberal Leader Bob Rae appointed Andrews to the post on June 6.
“ Since being elected in 2008, I’ve always worked to be an open and accountable Member of Parliament. For example, I’ve posted all my parliamentary expenses on my website for everyone to see. It is right for Canadians to expect their representatives and their government to be held at a high ethical standard and to be open and accessible,” Andrews said in a news release on the appointment.
“My critic role should be very interesting known the past actions of this Harper government. We all know that some of their ministers and MPs have not met the ethical standard that Canadians expect. I’m very pleased our leader has the confidence in me to assume this very important role, and will do my best to ensure government works in the best interest of all Canadians.”
Andrews was in St. John’s June 6 at the Health Sciences Centre celebrating the birth of his son, Malcom Mosher Andrews.
