“ This is as close to the kitchen as it gets,” said Justin Bowman, a member of the organizing committee.

Hosted by the Knights of Columbus, the festival is being supported by in-kind contributions from the Town of Carbonear.

“ Local and provincial businesses have also been very supportive with corporate sponsorship,” the committee spokesman noted.

Aside from preserving and promoting traditional folk music, organizers hope the festival will also help attract visitors from around the province and tourists from away to Carbonear’s historic downtown core.

Allan Rickets will be among the lineup of performers at the Knights of Columbus in Carbonear Saturday, July 9 for the inaugural Celtic Roots Folk Festival.
