Match called af­ter five in­nings

In the first game played Thurs­day night, July 28 in Car­bon­ear Men’s slow­pitch soft­ball ac­tion, Rock Hard Con­struc­tion out­lasted Butt’s Esso 16-10 on the strength of three hits each from Keith Ped­dle, Roy Flight and Bren­don Oliver lead­ing the way for the win.

Top bat­ters for the win­ner were Keith Ped­dle, Roy Flight and Bren­don Oliver with three hits apiece. Jody Doyle had two hits, in­clud­ing a home­run. Brad Gal­lant, Sam White and Paul Mc­Carthy had two hits each in help­ing with the win.

Sam White tossed the win on the pitch­ing mound, while Den­nis King suf­fered the pitch­ing loss.

Top bat­ters for the los­ing team were Ryan Parsons and Shane Lambert with three hits each. Blair Parsons had two hits one of which was a home­run. Andrew butt had two hits in­clud­ing a homer. Luke Ho­gan and Chad Parsons had two hits each. Bren­don Mc­Carthy, Jamie Pike and Den­nis King added sin­gles. Charl Clarke hit a home­run in a los­ing cause.

In the sec­ond and fi­nal game in Thurs­day night’s dou­ble-header the match was called af­ter five in­nings due to rain.

West Side Char­lie dou­bled Butt’s Esso 18-9, on the strength of three hits each from Paul O’ Leary, Mike White­way and Ce­cil Tay­lor lead­ing the way for the win.

Top bat­ters for the win­ning team were Paul O’ Leary, Mike White­way and Ce­cil Tay­lor with three hits each. Jody Doyle had two hits in­clud­ing a homer. Tim Brake, Bren­don Oliver and Paul Mc­Carthy had two hits each. Roy Flight, Grant Tobin and Shane Lambert added sin­gles to help with the win.

Sam White tossed the pitch­ing win on the mound while Ger­ard Grif­fin suf­fered the pitch­ing loss.

Top bat­ters for Butt’s were Charl Clarke with two home­runs. Luke Ho­gan and Cory Clarke had two each. Ryan Parsons, Chad Parsons, Andrew Butt and Chris Parsons recorded sin­gles. Blair Parsons hit one home­run in a los­ing cause.

In the first game Mon­day night Aug. 1, Rock Hard Con­struc­tion crushed West Side Char­lie 17-8 on the strength of three hits from Carl Oates who the way to vic­tory for Rock Hard.

Carl Oates was the top bat­ter for the win­ning team with three hits. Gord King and Stephen King had two hits each. David King and Bradley Har­ris had one apiece in help­ing with the win.

Stephen King tossed the win on the mound while Sam White suf­fered the pitch­ing loss.

Top bat­ters for West Side were Jamie Pike with two hits in­clud­ing a homer. Roy Flight had two hits, one of which was a home­run. Mike White­way had two hits. Paul O’Leary and Grant Tobin had one hit each in a los­ing cause.

Struck-out

In the fi­nal Mon­day night match, Butt’s Esso downed Rock Hard Con­struc­tion in the eighth in­ning. With the bases loaded and two out, Rock Hard player Roy Flight was struck out. That ended the game with Butt’s Esso out­last­ing Rock Hard 22-19.

Shane Lambert was the top bat­ter for the win­ning team with five hits. Chad Parsons, Andrew Butt and Chris Parsons had four hits apiece. Cory Clarke had three hits in­clud­ing a homer. Blair Parsons had two hits, one of which was a home­run. Shane Lambert had two hits, one of which was a homer.

Den­nis King and Ger­ard Grif­fin had two hits each. Ryan Parsons had one to help with the win.

Ger­ard Grif­fin tossed the pitch­ing win on the mound, while Stephen King suf­fered the pitch­ing loss.

Top bat­ters for the Rock Hard Con­struc­tion were Stephen King with five hits. Jamie Pike had three hits, one of which was a home­run. Gord King, Keith Ped­dle and Carl Oates had two hits each. Bradley Har­ris had one hit in a los­ing cause.
