West Side Char­lie’s takes dou­ble-header

In the first game in Car­bon­ear Men’s Slo-pitch soft­ball ac­tion Thurs­day night Aug. 4, West Side Char­lie’s bombed Butts Esso 23-8, on the strength of five hits from John Jac­ques, and four each from Paul Mc­Carthy, Sam White and Mike White­way lead­ing the way for the win.

Top bat­ters for the win­ning team were John Jac­ques, Paul Mc­Carthy, Sam White and Mike White­way. Tim Brake had three hits in­clud­ing a home­run. Bren­don Oliver, Grant Tobin and Roy Flight had three hits apiece. Ce­cil Tay­lor had two hits in help­ing with the win.

Sam White tossed the win on the mound for the win­ners, while Den­nis King suf­fered the pitch­ing loss.

Top bat­ters for Butt’s were Den­nis King with two hits, one of which was a home­run. Ryan, Chad, Blair and Jeff Parsons, and Charl Clarke had two hits each in a los­ing cause.

In the fi­nal match of the week West Side Char­lie’s picked up their sec­ond win of the night edg­ing Rock Hard Con­struc­tion 19-17 on the strength of three hits each from Mike White­way and Ce­cil Tay­lor lead­ing the way for the win.

Bren­don Oliver was the top bat­ter for the win­ning team with four hits. Mike White­way and Ce­cil Tay­lor had three each. John Jac­ques had two, in­clud­ing a home­run. Grant Tobin, Roy Flight and Sam White had one hit each in help­ing with the win.

Sam White tossed the win on the pitch­ing mound while Stephen King suf­fered the pitch­ing loss.

Gord King was the top bat­ter for the los­ing team with four hits. David King and Brad Gal­lant had three each. Trevor Smith and Keith Ped­dle had two hits each. Ryan Dean, Stephen King and Bradley Har­ris had one hit each in a los­ing cause.

In the first match played Mon­day night Aug. 8, Rock Hard Con­struc­tion, up­ended Butt’s Esso 14-10 on the strength of three hits from Roy Flight and two each from Brad Gal­lant, Paul O’Leary and Sam White lead­ing the way for the win.

Top bat­ters for the win­ners were Roy Flight with three hits, and Brad Gal­lant, Paul O Leary and Sam White with two hits each. Ryan Dean, Mike Squires and Trevor Smith had one hit each in help­ing with the win.

Sam White tossed his sec­ond win of the night on the pitch­ing mound while Ger­ard Grif­fin suf­fered the pitch­ing loss.

Stephen Peach was the top bat­ter for Butt’s Esso with three hits in­clud­ing a home­run. Charl Clarke had two hits one of which was a homer. Chad Parsons had two hits. Ryan, Jeff and Blair Parsons, Shane Lambert and Jamie Pike added sin­gles. Luke Ho­gan hit a home­run in a los­ing cause.

Butt’s bounces back

Af­ter los­ing their first game of the night, Butt’s Esso bounced back to de­feat West Side Char­lie’s 10-6, on the strength of a home­runs from Jeff Parsons and Charl Clark lead­ing the way for the win.

Top bat­ters for the win­ners were Jeff Parsons with three hits in­clud­ing a home­run. Charl Clarke had two hits, one of which was a home­run. Ryan and Blair Parsons, Den­nis King, Shane Lambert and Stephen Peach had two hits each. Chad Parsons, Ger­ard Grif­fin and Luke Ho­gan had one hit each in help­ing with the win.

Ger­ard Grif­fin tossed the win on the pitch­ing mound, while Sam White suf­fered the pitch­ing loss.

Paul O’Leary was the top bat­ter for West Side Char­lie’s with three hits. Roy Flight had two hits in­clud­ing a home­run. Mike Squires and Paul Mc­Carthy had two hits each. Tim Brake and Paul R. O’Leary had one hit each in a los­ing cause.
