Date set for Blueberry Harvest Run
This year’s annual Blueberry Harvest Run will take place in Harbour Grace Sunday morning, Oct. 2.
The run will be held in conjunction with the Trinity Conception Fall Fair.
Organizer Pat Collins said this year the run will incorporate a non-competitive10-k walk, a competitors’ 10-k race and a competitors’ 3k race.
Collins pointed out “the event is sponsored by the Town of Harbour Grace for citizens from all over Trinity Conception in the town’s on-going effort to contribute to healthier lifestyles.”
Collins said in an interview in July, “ the purpose of the event is to get people involved for fitness and healthy living.”
Walkers will begin in front of the S. W. Moores Memorial Stadium at 9 a. m. sharp and the competitive events will begin at 10 a.m.
Pre-registration can be completed at the Provincial Fitness Centre, the Carbonear Swimming Pool and/or the Harbour Grace town hall during regular office hours from September 26 to 28. Registration will also take place after 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 2, the day of the race. Walkers can register no later than 8:30 a.m., and runners, no later than 9:30 a.m. prior to the race.
Souvenir t-shirts will be available to the first 120 registrants.
Medals will be awarded for various competitive categories.
