Date set for Blue­berry Har­vest Run

This year’s an­nual Blue­berry Har­vest Run will take place in Har­bour Grace Sun­day morn­ing, Oct. 2.

The run will be held in con­junc­tion with the Trin­ity Con­cep­tion Fall Fair.

Or­ga­nizer Pat Collins said this year the run will in­cor­po­rate a non-com­pet­i­tive10-k walk, a com­peti­tors’ 10-k race and a com­peti­tors’ 3k race.

Collins pointed out “the event is spon­sored by the Town of Har­bour Grace for cit­i­zens from all over Trin­ity Con­cep­tion in the town’s on-go­ing ef­fort to con­trib­ute to health­ier life­styles.”

Collins said in an in­ter­view in July, “ the pur­pose of the event is to get peo­ple in­volved for fit­ness and healthy liv­ing.”

Walk­ers will be­gin in front of the S. W. Moores Me­mo­rial Sta­dium at 9 a. m. sharp and the com­pet­i­tive events will be­gin at 10 a.m.

Pre-reg­is­tra­tion can be com­pleted at the Pro­vin­cial Fit­ness Cen­tre, the Car­bon­ear Swim­ming Pool and/or the Har­bour Grace town hall dur­ing reg­u­lar of­fice hours from Septem­ber 26 to 28. Reg­is­tra­tion will also take place af­ter 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 2, the day of the race. Walk­ers can reg­is­ter no later than 8:30 a.m., and run­ners, no later than 9:30 a.m. prior to the race.

Sou­venir t-shirts will be avail­able to the first 120 reg­is­trants.

Medals will be awarded for var­i­ous com­pet­i­tive cat­e­gories.
