Rock Hard Con­struc­tion loses 2; West Side Char­lie’s wins 3

West Side Char­lie’s edged Rock Hard Con­struc­tion 25-23 in the open­ing match Thurs­day night, Aug. 11, in Car­bon­ear Mol­son Slo­P­itch soft­ball ac­tion. West Side took the game on the strength of four hits each from Paul O’Leary and Tim Brake, lead­ing the way for the win.

Top bat­ters for the win­ning team were Paul O’Leary and Tim Brake with four hits each. Roy Flight and Grant Tobin had three apiece. Bren­don Oliver had two hits, in­clud­ing a home­run. John Jac­ques, Paul R. O’Leary, Phil Hur­ley, Ce­cil Tay­lor, Alf Bourne and Paul McCarthy had two hits each. Sam White and Mike White­way had one each in help­ing with the win.

Sam White tossed the win on the pitch­ing mound, while Stephen King suf­fered the pitch­ing loss.

Ryan Dean was the top bat­ter for Rock Hard with four hits. Trevor Smith, Brad Gal­lant and Keith Ped­dle had two each, while David King added a sin­gle in a los­ing cause.

Se­cond loss

In the se­cond and fi­nal game of the week, Butt’s Esso out­lasted Rock Hard Con­struc­tion 10-8 hand­ing Rock Hard their se­cond loss of the night on strength of sin­gle home­runs from Luke Hogan and Den­nis King lead­ing the way for the win.

Den­nis King was the top bat­ter for Butt’s with four hits, one of which was a home run. Luke Hogan had three hits, in­clud­ing a homer. Cory Clarke added three. Jeff Par­sons, Chris Par­sons and Chad Par- sons recorded two each. Stephen Peach and Shane Lam­bert had one each in help­ing with the win.

Ger­ard Grif­fin tossed the win on the pitch­ing mound while Stephen King suf­fered the loss.

Top bat­ters for the Rock Hard were Stephen King, Brad Gal­lant, Bradley Harris and Ryan Dean with two hits each. Trevor Bald­win had one hit in a los­ing cause.

Win­ning streak

West Side Char­lie’s con­tin­ued their win­ning streak Aug. 15, tak­ing both games in last Mon­day night’s dou­ble-header.

In the first match West Side dou­bled Butt’s Esso 17-8, on the strength of five hits from Roy Flight and four from John Jac­ques lead­ing the way for the win.

Roy Flight was the top bat­ter for Char­lie’s with five hits. John Jac­ques had four and Mike Squires, three. Paul O’Leary, Sam White and Adam Butt had two each in help­ing with the win.

Sam White tossed the win on the pitch­ing mound for West Side, while Ger­ard Grif­fin suf­fered the pitch­ing loss.

Ryan Par­sons was the top hit­ter for Butt’s with three hits. Bren­dan McCarthy had two hits, in­clud­ing a home­run. Chad and Jeff Par­sons and Ger­ard Grif­fin had two hits each in a los­ing cause.

West Side picked up their se­cond win of the night, trounc­ing Rock Hard Con­struc­tion 19-8 on the strength of three hits each from Roy Flight and Mike Squires lead­ing the way for the win.

Top bat­ters for the West Side were Roy Flight with three hits in­clud­ing a homer and Mike Squires with three hits. Paul O’Leary, John Jac­ques and Tim Brake notched up two each. Paul R. O’Leary, Sam White, Adam Butt, Paul McCarthy and Alf Bourne had one hit each in help­ing with the win.
