Pre­de­ceased by par­ents: George and Ju­lia Kel­loway. Left to mourn, three daugh­ters: Erin Ef­ford (Mike Fur­long), Fred­er­ic­ton, NB, Amber (Doug) Hod­der, Mid­dle Sackville, NS and Luanne Ef­ford (An­thony Crocker), Par­adise; one grand­son: Liam; one brother: Arthur ( Sherry) Kel­loway, Vic­to­ria; five sis­ters: Joy (Fred) Rose, Sal­mon Cove, Doreen ( John) Wise­man, Kel­li­grews, Lima Spurrell, St. John’s, Gail (Gary) Rogers, Har­bour Grace and El­iz­a­beth (Terry) Vaters, Lawrence­town, NS; com­pan­ion: Lloyd Mur­ray, Holy­rood; also a num­ber of nieces, neph­ews; mem­bers of the Ef­ford Family, other ex­tended family and friends. Rested at Noel’s Fu­neral Home, Wa­ter Street, Car­bon­ear. Rev. T. Wayne Black­wood and Rev Dr. Wayne Cole con­ducted the fu­neral ser­vice on Mon­day, Aug. 15 at River­side United Church, Sal­mon Cove. ELLEN FRENCH —Passed away on July 23, 2011 un­der the car­ing watch of her family, Pauline (Roger), Harry ( Joanna) Linda (Tom) and Laura. Cher­ished grand­chil­dren Amanda (Hugues), Mered­ith, Andrew ( Jes­sica), Michael and Emily. Ellen was born in Bay Roberts, New­found­land on Feb. 21, 1921, the first daugh­ter of 11 chil­dren of Beth­le­hem and So­phie Mercer. Ellen was named after her grand­mother. Pre­de­ceased by her hus­band Ron­ald (1998). Broth­ers Frank, Lloyd (Muriel), Lewis, Hayward (Su­san), Pearce ( June) and Harry, sis­ters Jean (Stan) Brad­bury and Doris Hen­der­son, broth­ers-in-law Rick Mar­gin­son and Adrian Hier­lihy. Leav­ing to mourn sis­ters Bertha and Florence, sis­ters-in-law Ada and Beu­lah and many nieces and neph­ews. An in­domitable and in­de­pen­dent woman who would give any­thing a try — she learned to drive at the age of 65 and rode on the back of a Har­ley at 80; she was the con­duit of all the family sto­ries, al­ways want­ing to know the “ news”; a pro­lific knit­ter, net worker; a won­der­ful grand­mother and renowned for her Baked Alaska, Tea Bis­cuits and Hot Rod Rel­ish. Ellen was a true New­found­lan­der, prac­ti­cal, pur­pose­ful and pi­o­neer­ing. The family wishes to ex­tend warm­est grat­i­tude for the care, com­pas­sion and friend­ship pro­vided to Ellen by the staff of Bethany Lodge, Unionville. A cel­e­bra­tion of her life was held on Satur­day, Aug. 27, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Cen­tral United Church, 131 Main St. Unionville. Pri­vate family in­tern­ment Melville Church Ceme­tery, Markham. The family would ap­pre­ci­ate do­na­tions made to the Unionville Home So­ci­ety Foun­da­tion, 4300 High­way 7, Unionville, On­tario L3R 1L8. Here I am, Lord.

PUB­LIC ME­MO­RIAL SER­VICE— There will be a pub­lic me­mo­rial ser­vice held on Sept. 15 at 2 p.m for Johnathon Neil. The ser­vice will take place on the New Har­bour Bar­rens (Route 73), ap­prox­i­mately one mile from the Town of New Har­bour. Family, friends and any­one wish­ing to hon­our Johnathon are en­cour­aged to at­tend.
