The Hant’s Harbour recreation committee has received $15,000 to help complete the town’s regional sports centre.

“Once completed, this year-round facility will be used by residents in the area for various sport, recreation and social activities,” said Tourism, Culture and Recreation Minister Terry French.

“It is encouraging to support such a project to provide people, particularly children and youth, with a safe place to participate in healthy and fun physical activities.”

The committee is among more than 50 community-based organizations, municipalities and recreation commissions that have received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure through these latest capital grant program investments.

“Investments in recreational infrastructure provide additional opportunities for residents to participate in sports and leisure programs,” said Child, Youth and Family Services Minister and Trinity-Bay de Verde MHA Charlene Johnson.

This year’s provincial budget provides $ 11.5 million to support recreation and sport.
