West Side con­tin­ues winning streak

West Side Charlie’s up­ended Butt’s Esso 21-15 in the open­ing game of the dou­ble header played Thurs­day night Aug. 25 in Car­bon­ear Mol­son slo-pitch softball league action. West Side took the match on the strength of four hits from Sam White, who led the way for the win.

Top bat­ters for West Side were Sam White with four hits; Roy Flight, Tim Brake and Grant Tobin with three hits each. Ce­cil Tay­lor had two hits. Mike White­way, Paul R. O’Leary and Phil Hur­ley had one hit apiece help­ing with the win.

Sam White tossed the pitch­ing win on the mound while Ger­ard Grif­fin suf­fered the pitch­ing loss.

Top bat­ters for Butt’s were Shane Lam­bert with four hits and Blair Par­sons with three, one of which was a home run. Jeff Par­sons also had three hits in­clud­ing a home run. Charl Clarke and Chad Par­sons had three hits each. Stephen Peach, Jody Doyle and Ryan Par­sons had two hits apiece. Chris Par­sons had one in a los­ing cause

Rock Hard edges West Side

In the sec­ond and fi­nal match on Thurs­day night, Rock Hard Con­struc­tion edged West Side Charlie’s 19-18, on the strength of three hits by Stephen Peach, lead­ing the way for the win.

Top bat­ters for Rock Hard were Stephen Peach with three hits; and Trevor Bald­win, Keith Ped­dle, Jim King and Den­nis King had two hits each. Jody Doyle and Cory Clarke had one hit each in help­ing with the win.

Jim King tossed the win on the pitch­ing mound, while Sam White suf­fered the loss.

Top bat­ters for West Side were Mike White­way with four hits in­clud­ing a home run. Grant Tobin and Paul R. O. Leary had four hits apiece. Sam White, Roy Flight and Phil Hur­ley had three hits each. Tim Brake had two. Ce­cil Tay­lor and Alf Bourne had one each in a los­ing cause.

Butt’s triples Rock Hard

In the first game played Mon­day, Aug. 29, Butt’s Esso tripled Rock Hard Con­struc­tion 21-7 on the strength of two home runs from Charl Clarke and one from Den­nis King, lead­ing the way for the win.

Top bat­ters for Butt’s were Charl Clarke with four hits two of which were home runs. Stephen Peach had four hits. Jeff Par­sons and Jody Doyle had three hits each. Den­nis King had two hits in­clud­ing a homer. Chad Par­sons and Cory Clarke had two hits each. Ryan Par­sons, Blair Par­sons and Shane Lam­bert had one hit each in help­ing with the win.

Ger­ard Grif­fin tossed the pitch­ing win, while Jim King suf­fered the pitch­ing loss.

Top bat­ters for Rock Hard were Ryan Dean, Gord King and Trevor Bald­win with one hit each in a los­ing cause.

West Side out­lasts Butt’s

In the sec­ond and fi­nal match of Mon­day’s dou­ble header West Side Charlie’s out­lasted Butt’s Esso 18-13 on the strength home runs each from Roy Flight, Mike White­way and Paul R. O’Leary, lead­ing the way for the win.

Top bat­ters for West Side were Roy Flight with three hits, in­clud­ing a home run. Phil Hur­ley and Grant Tobin had two apiece. Mike White­way and Paul R. O’Leary hit sin­gles. Bren­don Oliver and Ryan Dean had one apiece in help­ing with the vic­tory.
