West Side, Butt’s each win pair; Rock Hard loses two

West Side Char­lie’s blasted Rock Hard Con­struc­tion 25-10, in the first match of the dou­ble­header played Thurs­day, Sept. 1 in Car­bon­ear Mol­son slo-pitch soft­ball ac­tion.

West Side took the game on the strength of three hits each from top bat­ters Paul O’Leary and Tim Brake.

Mike White­way had two hits, in­clud­ing a home run. Grant Tobin and Sam White had two hits apiece. Roy Flight had one in help­ing with the win.

Top bat­ters for Rock Hard were Gord King and Trevor Smith, with two hits each. Bradley Har­ris and Jim King had one each in a los­ing cause.

Sec­ond loss for Rock Hard

In the fi­nal game of the week on Thurs­day Sept. 1, Butt’s Esso handed Rock Hard Con­struc­tion its sec­ond de­feat of the night. Butt’s took the match 22-15.

Top bat­ters for Butt’s were Jeff Par­sons with four hits, one of which was a home run; Chad Par­sons, four hits; Steven Peach, Dennis King and Ger­ard Grif­fin, three each; Ryan Par­sons, two, in­clud­ing a homer; and Cory Clarke, two, in­clud­ing a home run. Charl Clarke, Blair Par­sons and Shane Lam­bert had two hits each. Chris Par­sons had one hit in help­ing with the win.

Ger­ard Grif­fin tossed the pitch­ing win, while Jim King suf­fered the loss.

Brad Gal­lant was the top bat­ter for Rock Hard with three hits. Jim King and Keith Ped­dle had two each. Gord King, Trevor Smith, Trevor Baldwin and Bradley Har­ris had one hit apiece in a los­ing cause.

Butt’s edges West Side

In the open­ing game on Mon­day Sept. 5, Butt’s Esso edged West Side Char­lie’s 11-9.

Jeff Par­sons was the top hit­ter for Butt’s with three hits, in­clud­ing a homer. Charl Clarke and Dennis King had three hits apiece. Luke Ho­gan and Blair Par­sons had two each. Chad Par­sons, Chris Par­sons and Jody Doyle added sin­gles. Shane Lam­bert hit a home run in help­ing with the vic­tory.

In a high-scor­ing fi­nal match of the week, West Side Char­lie’s pounded Rock Hard Con­struc­tion 35-14. West Side took the game on the strength of home runs from Roy Flight and Mike White­way, lead­ing the way for the win.

Top bat­ters for West Side were Roy Flight with four hits, in­clud­ing a homer, and Mike White­way, four hits, in­clud­ing a homer. Paul O’Leary and Paul R. O’Leary had three hits apiece. Tim Brake and Phil Hur­ley had two each. Grant Tobin and Sam White had one each in help­ing with the win.

Sam White tossed the pitch­ing win on the mound, while Jody Doyle suf­fered the loss.
