Local players make provincial teams
Eleven young hockey hopefuls from the TrinityConception region will be representing Newfoundland and Labrador at the 2011 Atlantic Challenge Cup.
The tournament, which runs Oct. 7-10 in Moncton, New Brunswick at the Red Bull Internet Centre, also features teams from host province, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
The tournament is broken down into five divisions: under-15 female, under-17 female, under-14 male, under-15 male and under-16 male.
Representing the province with the under-15 female team will be Alyssa Laing from Carbonear, Emily Bailey from Trinity Bay, Karissa Bradbury from Whitbourne and Kelsey Shute from Harbour Grace.
Making the under-17 female team were Chelsee Bradbury from Bay Roberts, Noelle Russell from Blaketown, Alicia Gillam from Whitbourne and Natalie Keeping from Bay Roberts.
Representing the region on the boys side for the under-14 male team are Lucas March from Green’s Harbour, Joel Petten from Coley’s Point and Lyndon Thorne from Blaketown.
There were no players from the region selected for either the under-15 or under-17 male teams.
