Rise and run

The Compass - - FRONT PAGE -

The cold dawn air bites at your skin as you take those first few steps.

The greyish, pink sky surrounds the morning as you try to pick up the pace.

Your breath comes quicker as you hear that familiar panting by your side.

You ease into your stride and take in the surroundings that have become such a welcome part of your day.

A dog barks in the distance, but my companion keeps the focus of the run.

The smell of the ocean, the squeal of sea gulls and the scurry of a rabbit make me rejoice in all that we have.

You dig in your heels for the ascent. As your lungs fill to capacity, you reach the summit.

Finally, the downward slope is your reward.

You move in a gait that hastily bring you back home to the reality.

Work, home, family.
