Bac­calieu run­ner wins sil­ver at provin­cials Se­nior high (fe­male)

Bran­don Har­ris of Bac­calieu Col­le­giate in Old Per­li­can was the only run­ner from the Trinity-con­cep­tion re­gion to claim a medal at the provin­cial School Sports NL cross- coun­try cham­pi­onships in Car­bon­ear on Oct. 29.

Har­ris took sil­ver in the ju­nior boys’ divi­sion, fin­ish­ing less than a sec­ond be­hind Jesse Byrne of Stephenville High.

Har­ris fin­ished in a time of 10 min­utes, 4.2 sec­onds.

Some 38 run­ners took part in the race, with Bac­calieu fin­ish­ing fourth in the seven-school team com­pe­ti­tion.

In all, some 180 run­ners from across the prov­ince par­tic­i­pated in four di­vi­sions — ju­nior high boys and girls, and se­nior high boys and girls.
