Vic­to­ria army cadets sworn in

Par­ents of mem­bers of 2615 Vic­to­ria Lions army cadets at­tended a swear­ing-in cer­e­mony and pro­mo­tion night at Per­salvic Ele­men­tary School on Nov. 22.

All first-year cadets were sworn in and of­fi­cially be­came mem­bers of the youth pro­gram. Dur­ing the event, cadets also re­ceived pro­mo­tions and pa­rade po­si­tions.

The corps is parad­ing 35 cadets this year, a 13-mem­ber in­crease over last year. Re­cruit­ing is on­go­ing, and youth 12 years-of-age and over are in­vited to come along ev­ery Tues­day be­gin­ning at 6:30 p.m.

The corps pre­sented out­go­ing Reg­i­men­tal Sergeant Ma­jor (RSM) Justin Par­sons with a plaque for his ded­i­ca­tion to the cadets. Justin has now be­come a mem­ber of the re­serve forces.

The corps is cel­e­brat­ing 34 years of op­er­a­tion this year, and a re­union is be­ing planned for Au­gust 2012 for cur­rent and former mem­bers.
