Victoria army cadets sworn in
Parents of members of 2615 Victoria Lions army cadets attended a swearing-in ceremony and promotion night at Persalvic Elementary School on Nov. 22.
All first-year cadets were sworn in and officially became members of the youth program. During the event, cadets also received promotions and parade positions.
The corps is parading 35 cadets this year, a 13-member increase over last year. Recruiting is ongoing, and youth 12 years-of-age and over are invited to come along every Tuesday beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The corps presented outgoing Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) Justin Parsons with a plaque for his dedication to the cadets. Justin has now become a member of the reserve forces.
The corps is celebrating 34 years of operation this year, and a reunion is being planned for August 2012 for current and former members.
