Coley’s Point Primary to get new roof
Coley’s Point Primary school in Bay Roberts is getting a new roof.
The provincial government announced Dec. 8 that a $444,022 contract had been awarded to NL Rubber Coating Corp. of St. John’s to replace the roof.
The project is expected to be completed by September 2012.
This latest project at Coley’s Point Primary brings the total investment in recent improvements to the school to more than $591,000, said Education Minister Clyde Jackman.
“This announcement continues to show this government’s commitment to upgrading school infrastructure within the province,” added Port de Grave MHA Glen Littlejohn.
“The installation of a new roof at Coley’s Point Primary, along with previous improvements, will ensure a quality educational environment for our children and their teachers.”
A similar contract is expected to be awarded in the coming days for a roof replacement at Holy Redeemer Elementary in Spaniard’s Bay. The closing date for submission of bids was Nov. 17.
Since 2004, the provincial government has approved more than $504 million for school infrastructure. Nine new schools have opened, five more are in various stages of planning or construction, 11 major extension and renovation projects have been completed, and seven more are underway or in the planning stages.
