NAPE announces scholarship winners
The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Prive Employees ( NAPE) announced last week it had awarded 18 scholarships to the amount of $ 11,000 to the children of current NAPE members who are starting post-secondary education.
The scholarships start at $500 and go as high as $ 1,500, with winners being based on either their academic record or the judgment of a written essay.
“NAPE proudly offers these scholarships each year to recognize the outstanding talent of the youth of our province,” said NAPE President Carol Furlong in the release.
Kendra Smith of New Harbour received a regional scholarship of $500.
“On behalf of the union, I congratulate each of the scholarship recipients for their academic efforts and inspiring essays about the union movement,” said Furlong.
