NAPE an­nounces schol­ar­ship win­ners

The New­found­land and Labrador As­so­ci­a­tion of Pub­lic and Prive Em­ploy­ees ( NAPE) an­nounced last week it had awarded 18 schol­ar­ships to the amount of $ 11,000 to the chil­dren of cur­rent NAPE mem­bers who are start­ing post-sec­ondary ed­u­ca­tion.

The schol­ar­ships start at $500 and go as high as $ 1,500, with win­ners be­ing based on ei­ther their aca­demic record or the judg­ment of a writ­ten es­say.

“NAPE proudly of­fers these schol­ar­ships each year to rec­og­nize the out­stand­ing tal­ent of the youth of our prov­ince,” said NAPE Pres­i­dent Carol Fur­long in the re­lease.

Ken­dra Smith of New Har­bour re­ceived a re­gional schol­ar­ship of $500.

“On be­half of the union, I con­grat­u­late each of the schol­ar­ship re­cip­i­ents for their aca­demic ef­forts and in­spir­ing es­says about the union move­ment,” said Fur­long.
