2. Construction boom in Carbonear
A massive investment into health and education infrastructure in Carbonear was poised to change the landscape of the Conception Bay North town.
The provincial government confirmed it would spend roughly $108 million on a new 250-bed long-term care facility, which will be located just west of Carbonear General Hospital. And construction has also started on a new school to replace Davis Elementary. That project will cost roughly $16 million.
The long-term care facility is scheduled to be completed by late 2014, while the school is expected to be ready before the end of 2013.
