Fol­lett, Roberts rolling high

Gord Robers barely man­aged to es­cape with the lead in the men’s high sin­gle in the 50-plus Bowl­ing League at te Old Mill Lanes in Bay Roberts on Feb.3 af­ter bowl­ing a 222, giv­ing him a one point lead over run­ners up Ger­ald Brad­bury and Wal­ter Par­miter, who both scored 221.

Ed Brown scored a third place fin­ish with a score of 192.

Kay Fol­lett again topped the women’s side when she bowled a 187 in the ladies’ high sin­gle.

Verna Bow­er­ing took sec­ond spot with aq 164, while Marg Brad­bury rounded out the top three with a 158.

The men’s high triple was not as close as the sin­gles as Roberts, with a score of 585, fin­ished with an 83 point lead over his clos­est chal­lenger Ger­ald Brad­bury, who scored a 502.

Don Snow fin­ished be­low Brad­bury with a 459.

On the women’s side, Kay Fol­lett took top spot in the ladies’ high triple af­ter she scored a 470.

Verna Bow­er­ing and Mary Tucker did bat­tle for sec­ond spot, with Tucker nar­rowly win­ning out with a score of 439 to Bow­er­ing’s 438.

Strange Bunch topped the team stand­ings with 32 points, while Don’s Mir­a­cles took sec­ond spot with 30 points.

The rest of the teams leader­board looks like this — Tailen­ders, 27 points; Bub­ble­heads, 27 points; Bright Lights, 25 points; Blue­ber­ries, 23 points.
