Nominations sought for recreation awards
Nominations are being accepted and solicited in the provincial recreation field by Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador. Individuals and groups are invited to recognize contributions and achievements that improve the quality of life through recreation within the province.
Dawn Sharpe of Portugal CoveSt. Phillips, who chairs the Recrea t i o n Newfoundl an d a n d Labrador awards committee, emphasized that “all those with knowledge of contributions to recreation, at all levels, should submit nominations so that proper recognition can be made.
“Within our province’s recreation field, it is very important to make certain that those who deserve this recognition receive it. There are many people who deserve to be nominated.”
The Cy Hoskins Memorial Award of Merit, the Pitcher Plant Group and Individual Awards and the Bridging The Gap Award are recognition awards that are presented annually.
“These awards were put into place to recognize and honor groups and individuals who are contributing to the important field of recreation. It is only correct that those who deserve recognition are nominated,” Sharpe stated.
“For 27 years some exceptional individuals and organizations have been recognized by these awards. Deserving nominations add to the overall prestige that the awards have earned.”
The deadline for nominations is Feb. 29.
