Brown, Bowering hit stride
Ed Brown had a couple of good games in the 50-plus Bowling League at the Old Mill Lanes in Bay Roberts, grabbing the two top spots in the men’s high single with scores of 204 and 188 on Feb. 10.
Don Snow came in narrowly above third place Lloyd Rossiter after bowling a 183 to Rossiter’s 182.
Verna Bowering’s effort mirrored that of Brown as she posted the top two scores in the ladies’ high single with 183 and 178.
Kay Follett bowled a 174 for second spot while Rita Fudge scored a 167 to round out the top three.
In the men’s high triple, Brown was tops with a score of 526, while Rossiter bowled a 509 to come second. Snow picked up a 485 to come in third. Bowering came out on top in the ladies’ high triple with a 510, while Follett and Hazil Harding battled for second spot.
Follett came out ahead with a score of 449 while Harding bowled a 442.
The Strange Bunch were the top team with 35 points, while Don’s Miracles was runner-up with 30 points. The Tailenders scored 29 points and the Bright Lights and the Bubbleheads tied with 28 points each.
The Blueberries finished with 23 points.
