Brown, Bow­er­ing hit stride

Ed Brown had a cou­ple of good games in the 50-plus Bowl­ing League at the Old Mill Lanes in Bay Roberts, grab­bing the two top spots in the men’s high sin­gle with scores of 204 and 188 on Feb. 10.

Don Snow came in nar­rowly above third place Lloyd Ros­siter af­ter bowl­ing a 183 to Ros­siter’s 182.

Verna Bow­er­ing’s ef­fort mir­rored that of Brown as she posted the top two scores in the ladies’ high sin­gle with 183 and 178.

Kay Fol­lett bowled a 174 for sec­ond spot while Rita Fudge scored a 167 to round out the top three.

In the men’s high triple, Brown was tops with a score of 526, while Ros­siter bowled a 509 to come sec­ond. Snow picked up a 485 to come in third. Bow­er­ing came out on top in the ladies’ high triple with a 510, while Fol­lett and Hazil Hard­ing bat­tled for sec­ond spot.

Fol­lett came out ahead with a score of 449 while Hard­ing bowled a 442.

The Strange Bunch were the top team with 35 points, while Don’s Mir­a­cles was run­ner-up with 30 points. The Tailen­ders scored 29 points and the Bright Lights and the Bub­ble­heads tied with 28 points each.

The Blue­ber­ries fin­ished with 23 points.
