Bicycle Rodeo planned for June 17
May 16 • Completed a traffic stop on Veterans Memorial Highway near Carbonear as a result of a traffic complaint. A 31 year old male from Salmon Cove was arrested after a search of the vehicle revealed a small quantity of what is believed to be marijuana. The driver was charged with possession of the drug, breach of probation, and driving a vehicle with no valid insurance. He is due in court July 17.
• Responded to a break and enter at Avalon Home Improvement in Cupids. Sometime overnight the fence was entered and a quantity of shingles and plastic fence were taken.
May 17 • Responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle accident on Veterans Memorial near Shearstown. The vehicle collided with a moose. No one in the vehicle was injured and minor damages to the vehicle. Wildlife officers were called to the scene and removed the moose as it was killed in the collision.
May 18 • Responded to a report of theft by the Town of Harbour Grace. A sign placed on Lady Lake Road indicating no camping, ATVS, or bikes were aloud in an area had been stolen overnight.
May 19 • Responded to a complaint of a cabin fire in the Beaver Pond area of Roaches Line. It turned out to be a small dog house on fire next to the cabin. The matter is not suspicious.
May 20 • Responded to a traffic complaint on Roaches Line. A 23 year old North River male was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for operating a vehicle with no valid drivers licence.
• Responded to a motor vehicle collision between an ATV and a motor vehicle in Clarke’s Beach. The ATV brakes failed and the driver collided with the side of a motor vehicle, knocking the operator off the ATV. The driver, a 16 year old male, received minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by an ambulance. The matter remains under investigation.
