Bay Wheels a success

The Compass - - CLASSIFIED -

The 2012 Bay Wheels Car Show, sponsored by the Prince of Wales L.O.L. No. 26 in Cupids, was deemed one of the more successfuls in the past 25 years by organizer Harold Akerman. The popular Bay Roberts based show pushed over 2,400 people through its gates at the Bay Arena, June 2-3. Featuring 51 cars from various eras, the show thrilled gearheads of all ages. Akerman said the show has raised over $100,000 for charities like VOCM Cares and Ronald McDonald House over the years. The amount of money made at this year’s event is still unknown.

Some of the world’s classic cars from as early back as the 1930s were on display, including this 1970 Plymouth Superbird, owned by Randy Morgan.

Const. John Clarke of the Trinity Conception District RCMP got behind the wheel of this 1961 Mercury Montery, a RCMP community policing car since 2004. The car, as well as the RCMP’s community program, were on display at Bay Wheels.
