A call-out for Games’ volunteers

The Compass - - OPINION -

Dear editor,

This letter is in response to your editorial comments of June 11 regarding the Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games in Carbonear and Harbour Grace and the need for volunteers to assist in the Games preparation and running.

We thank you very much for your drawing attention to the need for volunteers. We have been working diligently to attract volunteers and, to date, we have about 250 individuals from the Trinity-Conception area.

Yes, we do need many more volunteers and if any of your readers would like to volunteer then they can drop by the council office in Carbonear or Harbour Grace or the Games Office in the council offce in Harbour Grace and pick up an application.

We are presently contacting businesses, schools, offices, community organizations, service clubs, sports organizations, previous Games volunteers, youth groups and many individ- uals. We have ads on the radio and in newspapers and we have a website, www.ignitethelight2012.com, for your convience. We have Facebook and Twitter accounts for those so inclined.

Our volunteer database is growing ... but our volunteer needs are great.

We encourage one and all to support your Summer Games Don Regular is the director of the volunteer committee and
