Car­bon­ear slo-pitch ac­tion un­der­way

The 2012 Car­bon­ear men’s slo­p­itch league kicked off its 35th sea­son with a tilt be­tween East Coast Con­crete and Butt’s Esso, June 11 at the Car­bon­ear Re­cre­ation Com­plex.

East Coast dou­bled up Butt’s by a score of 14-6.

Lead­ing the of­fen­sive charge for the win­ners were Gor­don King and Mike Squires, who picked up three hits apiece. Jamie Pike con­tributed two hits, in­clud­ing a home run, while Brad Gal­lant, Chris Par­sons, Peter Tuck and Sam White picked up two hits.

Blair Par­sons, Den­nis King, Cory Clarke, Paul Sul­li­van and Bran­don Par­sons picked up two hits each for the losers. Jody Doyle, Ja­son Power and Marty Til­ley each had a sin­gle.

Peter Tuck toed the rub­ber in vic­tory and Ger­ard Grif­fin suf­fered the de­feat.

East Coast 7, West Side 5

In the sec­ond game of the opening day dou­ble­header, East Coast picked its sec­ond win of the sea­son with a close 7-5 vic­tory over West Side Char­lie’s.

Bren­dan McCarthy had a strong night at the plate for East Coast, pick­ing up three hits, while Bradley Har­ris, Chris Par­sons and Jamie Pike at two hits apiece. Brad Gal­lant and Matt Pow­ell picked up a lone hit each.

Roy Flight had three hits in the loss. Tim Brake and Sam White chipped in with one hit each.

Peter Tuck pitched the vic­tory, while Sam White suf­fered the loss.

Butt’s 29, West Side 5

Butt’s laid a beat­ing on West Side’s in the first meet­ing of the sea­son be­tween the two clubs on June 14.

Ev­ery­one in Butt ’s lineup picked up a hit, lead by Den­nis King who went per­fect at the plate and picked up five hits. Marty Til­ley, Charl Clarke and Blair Par­sons each con­tributed four hits at the dish. Cory Clarke, Ryan Dean and Keith Ped­dle had three hits each, while Trevor Bald­win, Mat Davis, Ja­son Power and Jef f Par­sons had two hits each.

Roy Flight, Paul Sul­li­van and Sam White lead the way for West Side’s with two hits a piece.

Ger­ard Grif­fin picked up the vic­tory, and Scott Cleary was sad­dled with the loss.

Butt’s 9, East Coast 6

In the sec­ond game, Butt’s avenged a pre­vi­ous loss to East Coast with a 9-6 vic­tory.

Lead­ing the way in vic­tory for Butt’s was Blair Par­sons, who picked up three hits. Cory Clarke, Marty Tilly, Den­nis King, Ja­son Power and Jeff Par­sons all con­tin­ued their hot streak, pick­ing up two hits each.

Bradley Har­ris had four hits in de­feat, while Jamie Pike chipped in with three hits, in­clud­ing a home run.

Ger­ard Grif­fin picked up his sec­ond win of the night, while Sam White dropped the de­ci­sion.
