BABB, Estelle Vera El­iz­a­beth (nee Pike) – Born Septem­ber 29, 1928. It is with pro­found sad­ness that the fam­ily of Estelle Babb an­nounces the pass­ing of a beloved wife, mother and grand­mother while in the lov­ing arms of her fam­ily at her res­i­dence in Har­bour Grace on July 22, 2012. Pre­de­ceased by her par­ents Mortimer and An­nie (Moores) Pike, sis­ter: Louise Garner and brother: Clif­ford. Estelle leaves to mourn her hus­band of 62 years, Lorenzo, chil­dren: Sharon Babb, Har­bour Grace, Gail (Tom) Lynch, Mount Pearl, John (Genevieve), Car­bon­ear and Joanne (Glenn) Dwyer, Lower Sackville, NS; grand­chil­dren, Meghan ( John) Mills, Camp­bell River, BC, Vic­to­ria and Luke Pen­ney, Har­bour Grace, Deirdre Lynch, Cal­gary, AB, Ian (Ni­cole) Lynch, St. John’s, An­drew and Jes­sica Babb, Car­bon­ear, Emily and Anna Dwyer, Lower Sackville, NS; great-grand­sons, Ian and Alex Mills, Camp­bell River, BC and Cole Pen­ney, Har­bour Grace. Also left to mourn, a large circle of other fam­ily mem­bers, dear friends and a loyal group of life­long companions, af­fec­tion­ately known as “The Big Six”, Ge­or­gianna Slade (de­ceased), Max­ine Tay­lor (de­ceased), Lil­lian Babb, Kath­leen Par­sons and Shirley Sharpe. Estelle was a life­long vol­un­teer. She was an hon­orary, life mem­ber of the New­found­land and Labrador As­so­ci­a­tion of Health Care Aux­il­iaries, mem­ber of the Car­bon­ear Gen­eral Hospi­tal Aux­il­iary, vol­un­teer with the Girl Guides of Canada, St. Paul’s Angli­can Church, Har­bour Grace and an in­ductee into the Har­bour Grace Sports Hall of Fame. Above ev­ery­thing else, she was a de­voted, lov­ing mother, giv­ing tremen­dous sup­port to all her chil­dren’s en­deav­ors. She will al­ways be en­deared in our hearts as a won­der­ful wife, mother, grand­mother, great-grand­mother, community vol­un­teer, friend and a car­ing gen­er­ous soul to those less for­tu­nate. Estelle’s home was al­ways a wel­com­ing and warm haven to all. The fam­ily ex­tends a heart­felt thank you to Dr. Chris Ped­dle for his ex­cep­tional care. “Thank you” is also ex­tended to the ded­i­cated care­givers who helped ful­fill Estelle’s wishes for her fi­nal days. Archdea­con John Dinn con­ducted the Funeral ser­vice on Wed­nes­day, July 25 from St. Paul’s Angli­can Church, Har­bour Grace. A pri­vate fam­ily inurn­ment at St. Paul’s Angli­can Ceme­tery, Har­bour Grace. Do­na­tions in Estelle’s mem­ory may be made to the Car­bon­ear Gen­eral Hospi­tal Aux­il­iary or to St. Paul’s Angli­can Church Restora­tion Fund.
