Butt’s goes un­de­feated in soft­ball ac­tion

Butt’s Esso put a hurt­ing on East Coast Con­crete, de­feat­ing East Coast 16-1 in the first game of Car­bon­ear Men’s Slo­p­itch League ac­tion Aug. 15 at the Car­bon­ear Re­cre­ation Com­plex.

Lead­ing the offensive de­struc­tion for Butt’s were Charl Clarke and Den­nis King with four hits apiece. Chad Par­sons, Stephen Peach, Luke Ho­gan and Jody Doyle had three hits each, while Blair Par­sons and Marty Tilly picked up two hits.

Brad Gal­lant had two hits for the losers, while Stephen King and Bradley Har­ris had a sin­gle hit each.

Ger­ard Grif­fin toed the rub­ber in vic­tory, and Stephen King took the loss.

The offensive punch for Butt’s car­ried over to the next game against West Side Char­lie’s af­ter Butt’s dropped West Side, 10-3.

Blair Par­sons, Charl Clarke and Ja­son Power picked up three hits each to pace the at­tack for Butt’s. Mat Davis, Stephen Peach, Marty Tilly, Jody Doyle and Jeff Par­sons had sin­gle hits for the vic­tors.

West Side was lead at the plate by Frank Fin­layson and Kevin Pen­ney, who had three hits apiece. Roy Flight, Paul Sul­li­van and Keith Ped­dle each had two hits.

Ger­ard Grif­fin picked up his sec­ond pitch­ing vic­tory of the night, and Sam White took the loss.

Ear­lier in the week, West Side got by East Coast, 9-6 on Aug. 13.

Lead­ing the way for West Side was Frank Fin­layson, Paul McCarthy and Ce­cil Tay­lor with two hits each.

Christ White was tops at the plate for East Coast, pick­ing up three hits.

Sam White picked up the pitch­ing win, and Stephen King suf­fered the loss.

In the sec­ond game of the night, Butt’s Esso up­ended East Coast by a score of 10-2.

Charl Clark, Den­nis King, Ja­son Power and Mat Davis each picked up three hits for the win­ners.

Lead­ing the way at the plate for East Coast were Phil Hur­ley, Chris White and Jamie Pike, who con­trib­uted two hits apiece.

Ger­ard Grif­fin took the win, and Stephen King took the loss.
