Butt’s Esso goes 4-1 in men’s slo-pitch ac­tion

Butt’s Esso up­ended West Side Char­lie’s 7-3 in Car­bon­ear Slo­p­itch Soft­ball League ac­tion at the Car­bon­ear Re­cre­ation Com­plex, Aug. 29.

Den­nis King paced the of­fense for Butt’s, pick­ing up two hits, one of which was a home­run. Stephen Peach, Jeff Par­sons and Ger­ard Grif­fin also had two hits apiece.

For West Side, Mat Pow­ell had three hits, while Brad Gal­lant and Gord King had two hits in the loss.

Grif­fin took the win, while Sam White suf­fered the loss.

In the sec­ond game of the evening, West Side man­aged to sneak by East Coast Con­crete by a score of 8-7.

West Side wsas led by Kevin Pen­ney, Mike White­way, Paul McCarthy and Roy Flight, who picked up three hits apiece. Ce­cil Tay­lor and Paul Sul­li­van con­trib­uted two hits each.

Mat Pow­ell picked up three hits for East Coast to led the charge at the plate. Brad Gal­lant and Gord King each con­trib­uted two hits.

Sam White toed the rub­ber for the win, and Jim King took the loss.

Butt’s bat­tered East Coast 10-2 in the first game on Aug. 27.

Charl Clarke and Blair Par­sons led the way for Butt’s, pick­ing up three hits apiece. Chad Par­sons and Ja­son Power had two hits each, and Stephen Peach belted a home­run in the vic­tory.

At the plate for East Coast, Gord King led the charge with two hits, while Phil Hur­ley, Shan­non Chafe and Brad Gal­lant had one hit in the loss.

Ger­ard Grif­fin pitched the win, and Jim King took the loss.

In the sec­ond game of the night, Butt’s again picked up a vic­tory, this time squek­ing out a 7-6 win over West Side.

Butt’s were paced by Jeff Par­sons at the dish, as he picked up three hits. Blair Par­sons and Chad Par­sons con­trib­uted one hit apiece.

Lead­ing the losers were Kevin Pen­ney and Sam White, who had three hits each. Tim Brake reached twice with two hits.

Grif­fin again picked up the vic­tory, while Sam White suf­fered the loss.

Due to the 2012 NL Sum­mer Games, prior to ac­tion on Aug. 27, the league last played on Aug. 16. In the first game of the night, West Side got by Butt’s in a close 2-1 af­fair.

For West Side, Paul O’Leary had three hits and Roy Flight had two hits to lead the way.

Marty Tilly had two hits in de­feat, while Charl Clarke, Den­nis King, Ja­son Power, Stephen Peach and Jody Doyle had one hit apiece.

White toed the rub­ber in vic­tory, and Grif­fin took the loss.

It was a dif­fer­ent re­sult for West Side in the sec­ond game, as East Coast bat­tered the losers, 12-3.

East Coast were led at the plate by Brad Gal­lant, who had five hits. Bradley har­ris, Jim King, Jamie Pike and Gord King each had three hits, while Chris Par­sons had two hits each.

Kevin Pen­ney had three hits for the losers, while Ce­cil Tay­lor, Sam White and Keith Ped­dle had one hit each.

Jim King picked up the win on the bump, while White took the loss.
