Green’s Har­bour res­i­dent charged with im­paired driv­ing

A 54-year-old male res­i­dent of Green’s Har­bour is fac­ing a charge of im­paired driv­ing af­ter a breath test found his blood-al­co­hol level was more than three times the le­gal limit.

The ac­cused was ar­rested by mem­bers of the Pla­cen­tia/Whit­bourne Dis­trict RCMP dur­ing the early af­ter­noon of Sept. 20 fol­low­ing an anony­mous com­plaint.

Two breath sam­ples were pro­vided, with the high­est hav­ing a read­ing of 240 mil­ligrams of al­co­hol per 100 millil­itres of blood. The other sam­ple recorded 220 millil­itres of al­co­hol. The max­i­mum read­ing per­mit­ted is 80 millil­itres.

The ac­cused was is­sued a 90-day pro­vin­cial sus­pen­sion of his driv­ing priv­i­leges, charged un­der the Crim­i­nal Code and is to ap­pear in pro­vin­cial court in Har­bour Grace at a later date.
