Two bronze for Team NL

Teams from this prov­ince cap­tured two bronze medals at the At­lantic Chal­lenge Cup tour­na­ment held in Monc­ton, N.B. Oct. 5-8.

The male un­der-14 team cap­tured third place, best­ing Team Prince Ed­ward Is­land 3-2 in the bronze medal game on Oct. 8 at the Red Ball In­tranet Cen­tre in Monc­ton. Mark Bar­rett of Spa­niard’s Bay scored the game win­ner. The team also fea­tured Noah Mercer of Bay Roberts.

The other team to cap­ture a medal was the fe­male un­der-15 squad. In the bronze medal game, Team NL again bested Team PEI. This time the score was 4-3 for the vic­tors. Lo­cal play­ers on the team were Shelby Bat­ten (Bare­need), Emma Rus­sell (Blake­town) and Kait­lyn Mayne (Ho­peall).

The fe­male un­der-17 team was nar­rowly de­feated in the bronze medal game by PEI, 5-3. Bay Roberts’ Natalie Keep­ing was the sole lo­cal player on the team.

The male un­der-15 team went win­less in the tour­na­ment, go­ing 04 in­clud­ing the bronze medal match against New Brunswick. Team NL was thumped 8-3 in the game. Bay Roberts’ Char­lie Spicer and Lu­cas March of Green’s Har­bour were the lo­cal rep­re­sen­ta­tives.
