The Eastern School District showed it was more than willing to tweak it plans when it came to closing rural schools during a board meeting in Shoal Harbour on Nov. 7.

But that f lexibility was not extended to schools in Whitbourne and Heart’s Delight-Islington.

Despite a lobby by parents and community leaders in both communities to save their schools, the board appears set to seal the fate of Whitbourne Elementary and Epiphany Elementary — both kindergarten to Grade 6 schools — during its next regular meeting in Spaniard’s Bay on Dec. 13.
