Gerald Bradbury sweeps mens side
Gerald Bradbury was tops in the men’s high single on Nov. 9 at Old Mill Lanes in Bay Roberts as a part of the Bay Roberts 50-plus Bowling League.
Bradbury bowled a 285 to best his closest competitor, Wilf Spurrell, by some 100 points. Spurrell scored a 184, while Walter Palmetier bowled a 181 to round out the top three.
Marg Bradbury, bowling a 179, made it two Bradburys at the top of the standings after her score was good enough for first in the ladies’ high single. Hazel Hardy narrowly bested Verna Bowering for second, 153-150.
In the men’s high triple, Gerald Bradbury again came out on top with a score of 620. His closest competition came from second place finisher, Spurrell. He scored a 515. Gerald Snow rounded out the leader board with a score of 403.
On the ladies side of the high triple, Verna Bowering narrowly bested Marg Bardbury with a score of 418 to Bradbury’s 416. Hardy was third afer bowling a 405.
The Untouchables are a top the team standings with 22 points. The Pointers have 15 points and are in second. Next in line are the Tailenders (14 points), the Martians (12 points), the Stray Aways (11 points) and the Strange Bunch sit in the bottom with eight points.
