Un­touch­ables roll to the top

Max Mug­ford broke the 200 mark en route to a top place fin­ish in the men’s high sin­gle in the Bay Robers 50-plus Bowl­ing League at the Old Mill Lanes in Bay Roberts on Feb. 8.

Mug­ford bowled a 201 to beat out Ger­ald Brad­bury (192) and Con Hay­ward (178) to take the No. 1 spot.

Marg Brad­bury bowled a 187 to take hold of the leader­board in the ladies’ high sin­gle. Verna Bow­er­ing scored a 156 to take sec­ond, while Kay Fol­lett bowled a 148 to round out the top three.

In the men’s high triple, Hay­ward leapfrogged to the front by scor­ing a 468. That was good enough to beat out Ger­ald Brad­bury, who bowled a 460 to land in sec­ond. Gord Roberts scored a 404 to come in the third spot.

On the ladies’ side, Marg Brad­bury and Hazel Hardy each bowled 430 to tie for the top spot in the high triple. Verna Bow­er­ing was next with 417, while Kay Fol­lett fol­lowed with a 397.

The Un­touch­ables picked up 41 points as the top team. The Point­ers had 26 points, fol­lowed by the Tailen­ders (25), the Mar­tians (22), the Stray Aways (22) and the Strange Bunch (17).
