Roberts tops on men’s side in bowl­ing league

Gord Roberts dom­i­nated the men’s high sin­gle in the Bay Ro­bets 50-plus Bowl­ing League at the Old Mill Lanes in Bay Roberts on Feb. 22.

Roberts bowled a 237 to beat out Con Hay­ward (186) and Eric Mercer (179).

Beatrice Brad­bury fin­ished on top of the ladies’ high sin­gle with 168. She nar­rowly bested her clos­est com­pe­ti­tior Kay Fol­lett, who scored a 162. Marg Brad­bury rounded out the Top-3 with a score of 142.

In the ladies’ high triple, Beatrice once again came out ahead with a score of 447. Fol­lett was again sec­ond, this time with a 441, fol­lowed by Marg who bowled a 416.

Roberts main­tained his con­trol on the men’s side with a 512 in the high triple. Hay­ward came sec­ond with a score of 462, while Ger­ald Brad­bury rounded out the leader board with a 458.

The Un­touch­ables were tops in the team stand­ings with 44 points. Next were the Tailen­ders (30) fol­lowed by the Point­ers (29.5), the Mar­tians (25), the Stray Aways (25) and the Strange Bunch (18.5).

Marg Brad­bury fin­ished al­most 60 points ahead of her clos­est com­peti­tor in the ladies’ high sin­gle on Feb. 15.

Marg bowled a 221, while Beatrice Brad­bury scored a 164 to fin­ish sec­ond. Kay Fol­lett bowled a 161 to round out the leader board.

On the men’s side, Con Hay­ward came out on top with a score of 194. Ger­ald Brad­bury was sec­ond with a 181, while Gord Roberts fin­ished third with a score of 179.

In the ladies’ high triple, Marg again came out ahead of the pack when she bowled a 487. Fol­lett was sec­ond with 461 and Beatrice was third with a score of 417.

Hay­ward and Ger­ald tied a top the board for the men’s high triple with iden­ti­cal scores of 527. Roberts was third with 404.

In team stand­ings, the Un­touch­ables (43) were first, while the Point­ers (28.5) fin­ished sec­ond. The Tailen­ders (27) were third fol­lowed by the Mar­tians (23), the Stray Aways (23) and the Strange Bunch (18.5).
