Roberts tops on men’s side in bowling league
Gord Roberts dominated the men’s high single in the Bay Robets 50-plus Bowling League at the Old Mill Lanes in Bay Roberts on Feb. 22.
Roberts bowled a 237 to beat out Con Hayward (186) and Eric Mercer (179).
Beatrice Bradbury finished on top of the ladies’ high single with 168. She narrowly bested her closest competitior Kay Follett, who scored a 162. Marg Bradbury rounded out the Top-3 with a score of 142.
In the ladies’ high triple, Beatrice once again came out ahead with a score of 447. Follett was again second, this time with a 441, followed by Marg who bowled a 416.
Roberts maintained his control on the men’s side with a 512 in the high triple. Hayward came second with a score of 462, while Gerald Bradbury rounded out the leader board with a 458.
The Untouchables were tops in the team standings with 44 points. Next were the Tailenders (30) followed by the Pointers (29.5), the Martians (25), the Stray Aways (25) and the Strange Bunch (18.5).
Marg Bradbury finished almost 60 points ahead of her closest competitor in the ladies’ high single on Feb. 15.
Marg bowled a 221, while Beatrice Bradbury scored a 164 to finish second. Kay Follett bowled a 161 to round out the leader board.
On the men’s side, Con Hayward came out on top with a score of 194. Gerald Bradbury was second with a 181, while Gord Roberts finished third with a score of 179.
In the ladies’ high triple, Marg again came out ahead of the pack when she bowled a 487. Follett was second with 461 and Beatrice was third with a score of 417.
Hayward and Gerald tied a top the board for the men’s high triple with identical scores of 527. Roberts was third with 404.
In team standings, the Untouchables (43) were first, while the Pointers (28.5) finished second. The Tailenders (27) were third followed by the Martians (23), the Stray Aways (23) and the Strange Bunch (18.5).
