A delightful award
Trinity Bay cottage owners win prestigious tourism excellence award
A new Trinity Bay business that offers luxury accommodations in Heart’s DelightIslington and Whiteway came away from the tourism excellence awards gala in St. John’s last month with the top honour.
Ocean Delight Cottages, operated by Laurelyn Berry and Jerry Byrne, won the H. Clayton Sparkes Accommodator of the Year Award.
Not bad for a business still in its first year of operation.
Presented annually by Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador and sponsored by the Sparkes Family, the award recognizes an individual or company in the accommodations sector who exhibits a dedication to quality service, a commitment to the tourism industry, and makes a solid contribution to the communities in which they live.
Laurelyn and Jerry moved “around the bay” to Whiteway just over a year ago, and have quickly established Ocean Delight Cottages as a favourite spot for tourists looking for an authentic Newfoundland and Labrador experience. Local residents searching for the perfect getaway without having to travel far have also discovered Ocean Delight Cottages, and the hands-on approach to doing business by Laurelyn and Jerry.
“We’ve both been fortunate to have travelled quite a bit for business and for pleasure, and we know first-hand what a difference those little extras can make,” Laurelyn stated.
“The area scenery is breathtaking, the local people are creative and talented, and we are really enjoying doing whatever we can to help visitors discover this.”
Ocean Delight Cottages offers year-round luxury cottages on Long Point Cove in Heart’s Delight/Islington, and seaside cabins in Whiteway.
