Holy Redeemer ‘Awash in Sea of Pink’ for Respect Week
The week of Feb. 25 to March 1 was “Respect Week” at Holy Redeemer Spaniard’s Bay. Students and staff had an absolutely fantastic week learning about and engaging in acts of RESPECT.
There were many presenters and special guests from various organizations. Students greatly appreciated the many different presentations from various special guests: RCMP Const. John Clarke; Julia Canning, MMSB; Heather Sutton, Communities Against Violence; Amy Kendall, Foster Families; Deanne Chipman, Melissa Seymour and Lori Mercer, Eastern Health; and Peggy Orbasli, Kids Eat Smart.
As a component of our Provincial Safe and Caring Award that we received, we were able to add additional draws for our weekly Rocket Rewards program. Thanks to a creative idea by Mrs. Dwyer (Grade 2), all students completed a “Respect Pledge,” which they signed and entered into other prize draws for the week.
On Wednesday, Feb. 27, all students and staff wore pink in support of “Stand Up to Bullying,” and students and staff enjoyed a fantastic pancake breakfast.
Students were very appreciative of staff members Mr. Sheppard, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Pike, Mr. Bishop, Mr. Crane and Ms. Gillard and parents and community members Tina Drover, Kim Crane, Jeri Hiscock, Tracey Cumby, Melissa Mercer, Sharon Reeves, Sandra Barrett, Debbi Dyke and Gary Hutchings for coming in at 6:30 a.m. to prepare to help serve breakfast.
The week concluded with a wonderful assembly that saw our students and staff ablaze with the colours of the rainbow. For more photos, visit http://www.redeemer.k12.nf.ca
