Vol­un­teer award nominations be­ing sought

Nom­i­na­tion are now be­ing ac­cepted for the Prime Min­is­ter’s Vol­un­teer Awards, with the dead­line set for April 15.

Ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease is­sued last week, the awards look to ac­knowl­edge those that go above and be­yond in their vol­un­teer po­si­tions.

There are 17 awards pre­sented to Cana­di­ans for their vol­un­teer ef­forts. Re­cip­i­ents of th­ese awards have the chance to re­ceive a $5,000 (re­gional) or a $10,000 (na­tional) grant for a not-for-profit or­ga­ni­za­tion. Only those nom­i­nated will be el­i­gi­ble for an award.

Vol­un­teers are an es­sen­tial part of our com­mu­ni­ties, province, and coun­try. They are your neigh­bours, coaches and church groups, your fire­fight­ers and even mem­bers of your fam­ily.

The awards rec­og­nize those who go be­yond his or her du­ties, an or­ga­ni­za­tion that makes a dif­fer­ence, or some­one that has spent their whole life giv­ing back.
