Applications available for recreation grants
The Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation has announced Community Capital Grants and Physical Activity Equipment Programs are now available. These programs provide financial support for recreation and sport infrastructure and equipment needs throughout the province.
The Community Capital Grant Program assists communities in the development of small-scale indoor or outdoor capital recreation projects including playgrounds, trails and multi-purpose courts, up to a maximum of $15,000.
The Physical Activity Equipment Program is available to support the purchase and repair of equipment that promotes physical activity such as nets, sticks and balls for recreation participation in after-school programs. It also includes sit-skis or similar para-ski equipment adaptations, mats, exercise balls and weights for fitness programs. The grant can be awarded up to a maximum of $3,000.
Deadline to submit applications to these programs is March 1, 2014.
