Suspicious of the NDP

The Compass - - OPINION -

In light of the recent government polls, I feel a reminder of my letter a couple of years ago is again warranted. The original name of the New Democratic Party was the Newfoundland Socialist Party.

We all know what socialism refers to. It is a type of communism, not a form of government we would want in our western world, surely.

The word democratic is deceiving here. It sounds good, but talk is cheap.

As it was said in that old television drama Dragnet, “We want the facts, ma’am, only the facts.”

Folks, please do not forget Tiananmen Square in China. We owe it to all of those people who gave their lives while seeking true democracy.
