New look for Bay Roberts summer program
There are changes coming to the summer recreation program in Bay Roberts.
Gone is the old system, in its place features one with weekly themes for children of all ages.
“After so many years of doing the same kind of thing, I thought it was time for a change,” said Ian Flynn, the town’s recreation director. “You kind of fall into a pattern of doing the same thing over and over, so I kind of went outside the box a little bit this year.”
He said that after last year, he felt the program format as it stood then had become stale.
“It puts a new, fresh face on the program,” said Flynn.
There are also hopes the new look will jump-start a program that saw a 50 per cent drop in 2012 from 2011.
One thing that Flynn hopes will draw children back to the program is the option to sign up for four weeks at a time. Gone is the set amount of money for a set number of weeks.
