No faith in Dunderdale; her government

The Compass - - OPINION -

For years our government was elected by the people, for the people. Premier Kathy Dunderdale saw to it that this will be no more the day government passed Bill 29.

My feeling is government is now telling me to make sure I vote but it is none of my business what happens after.

Why Bill 29, Kathy? Doesn’t every person in Newfoundland and Labrador deserve to know how their tax dollars are being spent?

A democrat is someone who believes in social and political equality. There is no equality being shown in our present government.

I know that Bill 29 was passed to keep information from the Opposition, but it is time for government to realize there are a lot of people who mark their “X” who would like the information. You are not very smart, premier, and I do believe that knob on your shoulder is just there to keep your ears apart.

Boy, we are in a bad state with regards to a government to carry us through.

Before the last budget was brought down the former finance minister, Mr. (Tom) Marshall, forecasted we would be in the hole an extra billion-and-a-half dollars come budget time.

Though we had a change of finance ministers and Mr. ( Jerome) Kennedy tells us Mr. Marshall is all wrong, we will only be half-a-billion down come budget time. Mr. Kennedy pulled $1 billion out of the government rabbit’s hat.

Then we look at our minister of justice, Mr. (Darin) King — a real brain wave. He is educated, yes. Knowing how and when to use it, no. That man is a dead loss to his government and his province.

For any minister to hold a position and then lay off a majority of the employees in his department under him, only to have to go out a month later and hire the same people back. What does that tell you about the ministers in our government?

Premier Dunderdale, I just finished listening to the news about how you and your government are slipping in the polls. What else can be expected from the way you are controlling, and having things closed down so bad no one else can get the answers they are looking for? — Moses Barrett writes from
