Car­bon­ear league com­mences 36th sea­son

The Car­bon­ear slo-pitch soft­ball league opened its 36th soft­ball sea­son with a dou­ble­header on Mon­day, June 3.

In Game 1, Breaks Heat­ing de­feated East Coast Con­crete by a score of 13-1. Mat Pow­ell had two hits for the win­ners, while Roy Flight, Steven Peach, Kevin Pen­ney, Sam White, Dar­rell Par­sons and Ja­son Power had one hit each. Sam White tossed the pitch­ing win, while Tom Har­ris suf­fered the loss. Top bat­ters for East Coast were Dennis King and Peter Chubbs, with two hits each.

In Game 2, Breaks Heat­ing de­feated Butt’s Esso 11-0, with Steven Peach, Mat Pow­ell, Grant Tobin and Sam White get­ting hits. Sam White was cred­ited with the win, while Scott Cleary suf­fered was tagged with the loss. Scott Cleary had two hits for Butt’s.
