DAWE, Muriel Eleanor June 10, 1950 – July 14, 2013

The Compass - - OPINION -

Slipped gently and serenely into the beyond to join her family members, who have gone before, Mrs. Muriel Eleanor Dawe of Clarke’s Beach, aged 63 years. Muriel endured a debilitating illness during the last 19 months with quiet acceptance and composure, being treated at various hospitals, latterly at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear, from where she departed this life on Sunday, July 14, 2013. Muriel was the only child of Douglas Williams, Pharmacist and his wife Doris (Coombs) Williams of Clarke’s Beach. Muriel, with her husband, David H. Dawe, Pharmacist, became the third generation to operate the family business, Williams Drugs, Clarke’s Beach. Muriel was a gifted pianist and gave unstintingly of her time as organist at Clarke’s Beach United Church from the age of 13, where many families appreciated her musical talents at Sunday services and during their special occasions, whether in sorrow at the funeral service of a loved one or in joyous circumstances at a wedding or a christening. Her St. John’s students may recall their attendance at the Muriel Dawe Piano Studio during the early 1970s. Muriel’s untimely passing will leave a void in the lives of many in her hometown but the emptiness in her family’s life will be immeasurable. Leaving to mourn their loss but with remembrance of happy family events are; her husband of 41 years, David, their two daughters: Charlotte and husband Wayne Kupferschmidt, Calgary, Alberta and Heidi and husband Ryan Andrews, Clarke’s Beach; their two grandsons: Dawson and Luke Andrews, Clarke’s Beach; and brother-in-law Walter (Ivy) Dawe, Lewisporte. Muriel will be fondly remembered by Aunt Muriel Marshall, Clarke’s Beach and Uncle Newman Williams, Gander. In addition to her parents, Muriel was predeceased by her parents-in-law, Harris and Marion Dawe, Clarke’s Beach and Uncle Vic Williams, St. John’s. As Muriel requested, cremation has taken place. Visitation for family and friends will take place at Moore’s Funeral Home, Clarke’s Beach on Monday from 10-Noon, 2-5 p.m, 7-9 p.m and Tuesday morning from 10-Noon. Muriel’s funeral services will be held at Clarke’s Beach United Church and Cemetery on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, In Memoriam donations to the Clarke’s Beach United Church Cemetery Fund would be gratefully appreciated by Muriel’s family.
